Renewing Your Mind

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world; but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Renew = renovation, complete change for the better.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keeps him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusts in thee.

There is a lot of talk about who we are in Christ; we are sitting in heavenly places with Christ Jesus.  We have power over the enemy in the name of Jesus, but let’s look at who Jesus is inside of us.  The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, the Comforter who is one who pleads another’s cause.  Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to change the way you think. He knows the destructive thought patterns, he understands your automatic responses and he knows how those responses were formed.  Let Him help you change your thinking, because He loves and cares for you.  He knows what is best for you.

The four step solution for changing bad habits, ending unhealthy thinking and taking control of your life.

1.) Indentify the negative and destructive thoughts and urges and cast them down, don’t think upon them.  These thoughts might be preprogrammed by your experiences – they are wired in you, these thoughts or ways of thinking are strongholds in your mind, or they might be a temptation from the devil.

2.) Acknowledge that this is not the real me - it’s just my brain. We are spiritual beings.  We are not of this world; we are in it, but not of it.  Embrace a positive emotion along with the proper thought.  Emotion empowers your thoughts, without emotions a thought has no power.

Example: You wake up not feeling good.  Instead of rehearsing the thought of not feeling good, or I’m tired.  Start praising God, thank you Lord God, you healed my body, you healed my mind, you saved me just in time OH I’m going to praise your name thank you Jesus, you healed me.

3.) Refocus: Direct your attention on Jesus, praise Him, sing a song, or quote a Bible verse that speaks the truth about the situation.  What does God say about it?

Example: If you think you can’t do sometime: say I can do all things through Christ how strengthens me.  If you are feeling sad: Say the joy of the Lord is my strength.

You are not your thoughts; learn to lean on the Holy Spirit.  If your thoughts are going crazy, bind your mind to the mind of Christ, and plead the blood of Jesus Christ upon your mind.

The brain can’t tell the difference between something real or imagined.

4.) Make a conscience choice to practice the presence of God.  Be God focused

Realize that what is going through your mind affects your mood and health thinking is an activity

Be aware of what you are thinking. Focus on Jesus, you are not your thoughts.

Take action that supports good thoughts, your action have to match what you say.  If you are believing God for joy, then smile. You can’t think and feel one way and act another.

The mind, your conscience choices, can change the brain.

Understanding that your brain has been operating unchecked for years, it will take time to practice the presence of God and train your brain to functions in positive ways.  Have your brain work for you and the kingdom of God, not against you and the Kingdom of God. GIVE NO PLACE TO THE DEVIL

Prayer: Dear Father Almighty,

Father, I love you and I thank you or saving me, I bind my mind to the mind of Christ Jesus.  Lord Jesus, I ask you to replace worry or evil desire with yourself.  I ask you to heal all of my memories and remove the lies from my brain and mind.  I ask you for new paths new ways of thinking. I ask for your way of thinking, dear Jesus.  Dear Jesus help me to become more pleasing to the Holy Spirit.  Amen
